Warner Road Barn

This c. 1913 50' x 100' Hemlock Bank Barn located on Warner Road in King of Prussia, Montgomery County, was found and rescued by The Foundation in August 2001. The day the Barn was scheduled to be demolished, Betsy Smith and Gunnar Lund came forward with plans to rebuild it for a future horse farm in New Market, Maryland. The Barn, also known as Sunny Creek Farms, dates back to approximately 1913 and was dismantled, documented and numbered by The Foundation in preparation for its move to Maryland. Stone from the site was also salvaged by another preservationist who will use it to rebuild a barn wall. In addition, while the Barn was carefully being taken down, our friends at the King of Prussia Fire Company partnered with The Foundation to use the onsite carriage house to practice firefighting skills. Special thanks go out to the builder, Jim Dahme of Bentley Homes, whose patience while the Barn found a new home facilitated the success of this preservation effort. In addition, we want to thank Brian Heiss and Mike Garito who donated their time and energy to this project by helping to denail boards. As you can see, this successful and satisfying project was the result of a community effort.
