Education
Preservation & Education are the dual missions
of FHBR. As we rally to save historic structures from being
lost forever, we are actively pursuing opportunities to create
and enhance community appreciation of our architectural history.
Future generations will benefit from seeing the preservation
process, research, completed restorations and learning about
how people of our past lived and used these structures.
EDUCATION will encompass 40% of the efforts
through the preservation activities and communications. We are
developing an extensive hands-on Internship Program for
students of area colleges to get involved in site research, documentation,
archeological digs, as well as the dismantling and restoration
processes. To date we have worked with Del-Val College Professor
Lyle Rosenberger and his students on hands on archeological digs
and documentation. Hand-on programs for younger students will
vary each year based on the properties being saved. Annual community
tours will educate and create awareness for the general public.
Further extensive documentation will be assembled for each site
creating short historic videos for each site. Education efforts
will be developed and implemented by Alan Keyser and Colleen
Hart these activities have been in development since early 2000.
